New Hype or Not Hype

The excitement surrounding iPad from developers is completely new to me. This is a device yet to be released and so many are designing apps for it, get this: are vocal about it, that it seems more that this talk is not hype at all! This kind of support is unheard of for a device. It's normally relegated to operating system new releases. It feels good, like a warm, comfy blanket around my doubts.

Little Convincing Required

When you're car shopping, you really start noticing the cars on your pick list out in the wild. One will drive by and you'll swear there's more of them on the road now because, oh there went another. So, you gain a bit of a bias for those models.

Developers have never been more visible to me, especially iPad developers. If there's a rumor tweet or someone links a rumor site, I usually avoid them. I'm not interested in consumer speculation. Coders and App UI designers, however, their opinions mean a great deal. They are going to create and affect what I'll be living with on my device for the next few years. This is a big deal! And they're talking big things! Seriously, if this device is a flop, it's not because of any lack of support:

There you'll find several design templates these designers have made just so they can get a feel for something they haven't felt. They are beautiful already, I can't wait to see how things progress once the thing is actually in their hands.

Feeling Home

Cooked my first run of homemade beef and peppers stir-fry. The heat should have been higher during the strips searing, but that didn't stop me from filling myself to bursting! It has the added benefit of turning a two meal portion of beef into about four.

Expansion of iPod Line

The more I think about it the more I see that iPad is actually an extension on the iPod line. The iPod Touch for the latest innovation for that line, officially, with iPhone being a special case: you just get the phone as well.

It will certainly handle video better than any iPod currently in the line. Additionally, it brings interactive work apps to the line.

The price points for all WiFi only models are all attractive and very reasonable.

Testing one out in an Apple store will pretty much conclude my thoughts on buying one.

Reverse That: iPhone is the MiniiPad

Apple's release of the iPad has me thinking that iPhone funded development for iPad. This device makes more sense with apps from the App Store than iPhone does. Early adopters will likely be disappointed, but they'll later sing praises after using it a while.
